Fine Arts

This class focuses on the process of creating art in 2D and 3D. Art media include drawing, painting, collage, and sculpture. Students create work based on the principles and elements of art, expressing ideas through brainstorming, planning, and research. No prior art experience is necessary.

Open to all experience levels, this course focuses on music literacy, technical proficiency, and ensemble performance skills on percussion, woodwind, and brass instruments. Students apply their learning in at least two mandatory evening concerts throughout the year.

This advanced two-year program is designed for dedicated instrumentalists seeking to deepen their music literacy, technical proficiency, and ensemble performance on percussion, woodwind, and brass instruments. Open to all experience levels (violin, viola, cello, and double bass), this course focuses on building foundational to advanced music literacy, technical proficiency, and ensemble performance skills. Students will showcase their musical growth in mandatory evening concerts throughout the year.

Open to all experience levels, this course provides a comprehensive exploration of percussion performance, including pitched, non-pitched, marching percussion, world percussion, and drum set. Students develop strong music literacy, rhythm reading, and technical mastery across a wide variety of instruments while preparing for live concert performances.

This semester-long course offers a foundational introduction to guitar performance, with a primary focus on classical guitar ensemble playing, music literacy, and proper technique. Toward the end of the term, students receive a brief introduction to steel-string acoustic and electric guitar styles. As a skills-focused course, there are no evening performance requirements.

This class is for 7th-graders interested in singing. The class includes training in choral singing, music theory, sight-singing, ear training, and show choir staging. There is one performance required outside of class. For all questions, please email our Chorus Director, Ms. Kahn.

This is an 8th-grade all-girls choir. This full-year show choir participates in all concerts and in the Anaheim (Disneyland) choir trip in March. Prerequisite is Desert Harmony, Bravo, or Mixed Choir and Musical Theater.

Desert Harmony is the advanced mixed chorus. Admission is open following a successful vocal audition and admission into the Academies of Choir. Students primarily perform two, three, or four-part choral literature from the medieval through contemporary musical periods. Students perform in three major concerts per year along with special performances for the community throughout the year. Vocal audition and application submission are required for acceptance.

Bravo is an ensemble specializing in musical theatre literature. Students study and perform a variety of musical theatre selections. These performances consist of extensive vocal work and choreography. Students perform in three major concerts over the year along with special performances for the community. Vocal audition, callback dance audition, and application submission are required for acceptance.

This elective is for students who are interested in musical theater – both on stage and “behind the scenes.” Students have the opportunity to rehearse, perform, and choreograph projects during the semester. The class culminates in a performance at a concert. 

This class introduces students to the joys of participating in a show and producing a Broadway Junior musical. Legally Blonde Jr. and High School Musical Jr. are examples of past shows. Prerequisite is Intro to Musical Theater, Bravo, or Desert Harmony. Teacher approval if a student is in Mixed Choir.
